About the Gun

The Springfield 1911-A1 series of pistols are faithful adaptations of the original 45 Auto Colt-Browning design. The short-action Enhanced Micro Pistol is the first production 1911 made from the ground up to shoot short cartridges like the 9mm and .40 S&W. The result is a small and very concealable 1911 style pistol.

Analysis

This compact 9mm pistol offers a compelling package for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is noteworthy, delivering consistent groupings at typical engagement distances, thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system. Ergonomically, the grip fits comfortably in most hands, with texturing that aids control without being overly aggressive. Reliability is a strong point, as it cycles a variety of ammunition with minimal malfunctions during extended testing. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4.5 pounds, which enhances precision without feeling too heavy. Felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable even during rapid fire, though smaller-framed shooters might find it slightly sharp. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat intricate due to its compact design, requiring patience for thorough cleaning. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges, potentially delaying repairs for some users.
