About the Gun

Springfield's Croatian made XDM pistol is not intended to be a replacement for the company's XD series. Moreover it represents a high-end option alternative to the XD. This is seen in features such as its precision machined match-grade barrel and extremely short trigger travel and reset. The polymer grip has interchangeable palm swells and holds higher capacity magazines than the XD series. Features still common between the XD and XDM series are the loaded chamber indicator, the cocked status indicator and the 1911 style grip safety.

About the Cartridge

Initially made by Norma and chambered in the Bren Ten pistol in 1983 the 10 mm Auto was right off a formidable round. While the Bren Ten was not successful, the 10 mm cartridge was. In 1989 the FBI announced the 10 mm Auto as their officially favored sidearm. While the cartridge has proven itself over time, many felt that the cartridge was a little long for semi-auto pistols, making the pistol grip a little big for some comfort levels. When the shorter .40 S&W cartridge with very similar ballistics was introduced, it soon won popularity over the 10 mm round. The 10 mm Auto cartridge still has a strong following and manufacturers are still making pistols chambered for this round.

10mm OH BOY!

15+1 Round of pure unadulterated shooting bliss! Such AWESOME recoil management, I can shoot it with one hand (300lb 6-2 male). Come the zombie apocalypse, I'm so ready! I might assume all the 9mm ammo will be all picked over by the time I get to the ammo store, but not the 10mm!
