Analysis

This 9mm pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a reliable and user-friendly firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance at typical defensive ranges, while the ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip for a wide range of hand sizes, enhancing control during extended sessions. Reliability is a strong point, with the pistol functioning well under varied conditions and with different ammunition types. The trigger pull is smooth, with a crisp break around 5.5 to 6 pounds, aiding precision. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most users, though follow-up shots may require slight adjustment for newer shooters. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat intricate, requiring attention to detail for proper care. Availability of aftermarket parts may also pose challenges for customization. Overall, it suits both novice and experienced shooters, though some may find its upkeep demanding.

Better than Glock
By MyXD9mod2 on 11 Oct 2024
This handgun is my everyday carry pistol. It is better than any of the four Glocks I have owned. Glocks are reliable, but that is about all they have going for them. Several reasons to buy an XD9 mod 2: 1) Better ergonomics than a Glock 2) Better trigger than a Glock 3) Better sights than a Glock 4) Better capacity than a Glock 5) Cheaper than a Glock 6) Safer than a Glock 7) As/more reliable as a Glock 8) As concealable as a Glock 19/23 9) Also has loaded chamber indicator 10) Also cocking indicator 11) Weighs 5-6 oz more than a Glock to absorb recoil 12) Easy to shoot accurately 13) Bevelled mag well 14) Steel magazines The shame is that Springfield has discontinued the XD9 mod2. If you can ever find one, buy it! And did I mention, it's better than a Glock!

Great Gun
By edavis7 on 16 Mar 2019
Alot of people pass over Springfield for Glocks, HKs, Sigs, and Smith and Wessons. No doubt those are good guns but Springfields do not seem to get the same amount of attention as those other manufacturers. Probably because they market their weapons more to the military and law enforcement while Springfield markets more towards the civilian sector. Regardless, Springfields are great guns and my all time favorite pistol manufacturers. I recommed the Mod 2 XD line. They are great pistols.

A bit on the heavy side, and thick (double stack) for conceal carry, but it can be done. An excellent shooter, very accurate, very dependable.

Excellent Value

1200+ rounds with no malfunctions. Easy slide racking. Accurate at self-defense distances. 13 round flush fit magazine gives adequate capacity. A little thick for concealed carry but it's doable. Simple takedown for cleaning. Can double as concealed carry or nitestand pistol. Enough weight (26 oz) to help control recoil. Excellent grip texture and fits medium to large male hands. 16 round magazine for extra capacity. Just an excellent, well made firearm.
