About the Gun

The striker-fired PT-24/7 pistol features an injection molded polymer frame, a frame-mounted manual safety lever, a visible/tactile loaded chamber indicator and a dust cover Picatinny accessory rail. Handling characteristics of 24/7 pistols are enhanced by ergonomic design attributes which Taurus calls 'Memory pads', consisting of various grooves which promote proper consistent hand placement for superior handling control. In addition, a secure grasp of the pistol grip is afforded by a high adhesion gripping surface. An option on selected basic 24/7 pistols and standard on Pro models is a soft, ribbed, non-slip, hand-conforming grip which Taurus calls the ‘Ribber’.

Analysis

This .40 S&W semi-automatic pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a balance of performance and practicality. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, while the ergonomic grip design accommodates a variety of hand sizes, enhancing control during extended sessions. Reliability is a strong suit, with the firearm cycling smoothly through various ammunition types under typical conditions. The trigger pull, averaging around 5 pounds in double-action mode, provides a predictable break, though some may find it slightly long in reset. Felt recoil is manageable for most users, thanks to the well-distributed weight, though it can feel sharp with hotter loads. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to intricate disassembly, and sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges in certain regions. Additionally, shooters with smaller hands might find the frame slightly bulky, potentially affecting comfort over time.
