This double-action (DA/SA) revolver has a 5-shot cylinder and a short, full-lug barrel. The sights are fixed. It is available in various frame materials and finishes and some models have compensating ports in the barrel. Other features include front and rear cylinder locks and rubber grips.

About the Cartridge

This is one of the first generation pistol cartridges designed to use smokeless powder. Its performance is modest compared to the .44 Remington Magnum but is very potent compared to the .38 special. The .44 S&W Special round can be fired in modern revolvers chambered for the .44 Remington Magnum.
