About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This 9mm semi-automatic pistol is a well-regarded choice among shooters for its consistent performance and practical design. Its accuracy is noteworthy, delivering tight groupings at moderate ranges, which suits both recreational and defensive use. The ergonomics are a significant asset, with a grip that accommodates a wide range of hand sizes, enhancing control during extended sessions. Reliability is another strong point, as it functions smoothly even under adverse conditions with minimal malfunctions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to ensure optimal performance. Parts availability may pose challenges in certain regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull, averaging around 5.5 pounds, offers a predictable break, though some users might find it slightly heavy for precision work. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most shooters, but those sensitive to kick may need adjustment time. Overall, it’s a dependable option with considerations for upkeep.
