About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This .40 S&W caliber pistol is a well-regarded choice for both law enforcement and civilian shooters, offering a solid balance of performance and practicality. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent results in controlled shooting scenarios, while the ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip for a wide range of hand sizes, aiding in control during extended sessions. Reliability is a key asset, with a proven track record of functioning under diverse conditions with minimal malfunctions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to keep it in optimal condition. Parts availability may pose challenges in certain regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull, averaging around 5.5 pounds, provides a predictable break, though some users might find it slightly heavy. Felt recoil is noticeable due to the potent cartridge, which could be a consideration for shooters sensitive to kickback.

Snappy

The Glock 22 is very snappy and has a noticeable felt recoil. I wanted a .40 S&W pistol and I had to settle for a Glock. Of the three .40 S&W pistols I own, the best shooting and has the least amount of recoil is my Beretta PX4 Storm.
