The 3900 series consists of a variety of 9mm Luger 'Third Generation' pistols derived from the Model 39 and 439, the so-called 'First Generation' and 'Second Generation' patterns. They all have single column magazines. These are double-action semi-autos utilizing the well-tried Browning locking mechanism and a Walther-style decocking safety lever on the rear left side of the slide.

Production

Analysis

This 9mm semi-automatic pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a compact, concealable firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, while the ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip for most hand sizes, aiding in control during extended sessions. Reliability is a key asset, with the pistol functioning well under varied conditions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, as disassembly and cleaning require attention to detail, which may frustrate less experienced users. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts can be challenging, potentially limiting long-term usability. The trigger pull is smooth with a crisp break, averaging around 5 pounds in double-action mode, though some may find it slightly heavy for rapid follow-up shots. Felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable for most shooters with proper technique, making it a practical choice for personal defense.

Identicallly same pistol as the "Ladysmith" model only without the "Ladysmith: logo rolled on. Hence "NL" (no logo).
