Spanish weapons manufacturer founded in 1908 in the city of Eibar, Spain. The company moved in 1913 to Guernica, Spain. Astra was one of the oldest and most widely recognized trademarks in Spain. Financial difficulties in the '90s led to the company's demise. Although Astra had hoped to acquire Star patents and relocate to a smaller facility, these efforts were not successful. Foreclosure sealed the factory doors in July, 1998.
