About the Gun

The Model 1 series is based on the Remington over/under design patented by William Elliot in 1865. The frame and barrel block are constructed entirely from stainless steel. This double-barrel derringer provides two shots with automatic barrel selection. It includes a manually operated hammer-block safety that disengages automatically when the hammer is cocked.

Analysis

The American Derringer Model M-1 Texas Commemorative (also referred to as Model 1 Texas Commemorative) is a limited-edition variant of the standard Model 1 derringer, produced to mark the 150th anniversary of Texas independence (1836–1986). This version featured a solid brass frame (contrasting with the standard stainless steel), stainless steel barrels, and grips in stag horn or rosewood. The barrels carried the marking "Made in the 150th Year of Texas Freedom," and a special serial number was engraved on the backstrap. Otherwise mechanically identical to the base Model 1.
