Analysis

American Derringer listed the Model 4 Engraved Series as a factory custom option on the longer 4.1-inch Remington-pattern over/under, with hand engraving and a multi-week special-order lead time. The lockwork stayed the Model 4 arrangement: top-break barrels, automatic barrel selection, and a hammer-block safety that drops off when the hammer is cocked. Catalog work treated engraving as an add-on to the core stainless Model 4 rather than a separate action. It is not the Alaskan Survival with its .45-70 Gov upper barrel and oversized grips, and it is not the shorter engraved Model 1. Output followed the rest of the Waco line into a long fade. Engraved examples turn up less often than plain Model 4 guns and usually bring a modest premium when the engraving is intact.
