Analysis

American Derringer introduced the Model 10 as a lighter Model 1: alloy frame, stainless barrel block and lockwork, same top-break barrels, automatic barrel selection, and hammer-block safety. Catalogs listed .45 Auto and .45 Colt first, then added .38 Spl. It is not the Model 7 Lightweight, which uses alloy for both frame and barrels, and it is not the Model 11, which reverses the mix with a stainless barrel and an alloy remainder. The Model 10 stayed a short catalog line beside the stainless Model 1 and faded with the rest of the Waco shop. Used examples are less common than a standard Model 1 and trade in the same neighborhood when the alloy frame is uncracked.
