About the Gun

Compact Remington-style single-action over/under derringer on the Model 1 pattern, with a stainless barrel and the remaining parts in aluminum, a gray matte finish, and thin rosewood or bacote grips. It is the lighter small-caliber companion to the Model 10, not the all-stainless Model 1 and not the all-alloy Model 7.

Production ran from 1995 through 2011.

MSRP at production was around $400–$500. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $250–$400.

Analysis

American Derringer built the Model 11 as the small-caliber lightweight next to the Model 10: stainless barrel, aluminum for the rest of the gun, same top-break barrels, automatic barrel selection, and hammer-block safety. Catalogs listed .22 LR, .22 Mag, .32 Mag, .380 Auto, and .38 Spl. It is not the Model 10, which keeps stainless barrels on an alloy frame and was chambered in .38 Spl, .45 Auto, and .45 Colt, and it is not the Model 7 Lightweight, which uses alloy for both frame and barrels. The rimfire and milder centerfire chamberings dropped first; .38 Spl lingered to the end of the listed run. Used examples are scarce next to a stainless Model 1 and trade like other late alloy Waco guns when the frame is sound.
