About the Gun

The 3000 is a compact tubular-slide SA blowback pistol with an internal hammer, a grip safety, and a frame-mounted thumb safety. The butt swells at the bottom. Standard guns are blued steel with checkered plastic grips. A loaded-chamber pin sits at the rear of the slide, and the magazine release is a button on the left side behind the trigger.

Analysis

Astra introduced the 3000 just after World War II as the updated small tubular-slide pistol. The changes from the earlier 300 were a flared grip, a push-button magazine release, and a loaded-chamber indicator. It was sold in .32 Auto and .380 Auto. About 44,000 were built before the Falcon replaced it. Used 3000s are scarcer than wartime 300s and trade as short-run postwar tube-slides; parts are limited.
