About the Gun

The 4000 Falcon is a compact tubular-slide SA blowback pistol with an exposed hammer and a rounded butt. Standard guns are blued, with a frame-mounted thumb safety and a button magazine release low on the left grip.

Analysis

Astra introduced the 4000 in 1956 as the Falcon, the last of its tubular-slide pocket pistols. The change from the earlier 3000 was an external hammer and the drop of the grip safety. It was sold in .22 LR, .32 Auto, and .380 Auto; a short-lived conversion kit let one frame use more than one caliber. U.S. import of this size ended after 1968. Centerfire production continued for other markets into the mid-1980s. .22 LR as a factory chambering stopped in the mid-1960s. Used Falcons trade as late Astra tube-slides; parts are limited.
