About the Gun

The 800 Condor is a full-size tubular-slide SA blowback pistol in 9 mm with an exposed hammer and a rounded grip. Standard guns are blued steel. Grips are serrated plastic marked Condor. The magazine release is a button on the left grip. A loaded-chamber pin sits at the rear of the slide.

Analysis

Astra introduced the 800 in 1958 as the Condor, a post WWII 9 mm tubular-slide pistol with an external hammer and no grip safety. The design had been drawn in the mid-1940s and sat until production started. About 11,400 were built. It sold as a civilian service-size 9 mm and did not become a standard issue gun. Used Condors are scarcer than wartime 600s and trade as short-run Astra tube-slides; parts are limited.
