About the Gun

The Cadix is a compact S&W-pattern DA/SA revolver with a swing-out cylinder, a shrouded ejector rod, and a hammer-block safety. Standard guns are blued steel with checkered wood grips. Short-barrel guns use fixed sights; 4 in and 6 in barrels usually have an adjustable rear sight.

Production ran from 1958 through 1973.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $75. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $150–$300.

Analysis

Astra introduced the Cadix in 1958 as its first production revolver. The lock follows Smith & Wesson practice: solid frame, left-side thumb latch, and simultaneous ejection. Factory codes used caliber plus barrel length: 200-series .22 LR, 300-series .32 S&W Long, and 380-series .38 Spl. Cylinders are nine-shot in .22 LR, six-shot in .32 S&W Long, and five-shot in .38 Spl. U.S. import of this lockwork ended after 1968; Spanish production continued into the early 1970s. Used Cadix guns trade as light Spanish S&W-pattern revolvers; parts are scarce.
