The 1911A1 GI Specs is a Government- and Commander-size 1911-style single-action pistol with a matte black steel frame and slide, GI-style sights, and either brown checkered plastic grips or checkered wood grips with a U.S. logo. It uses a firing-pin block with the usual thumb safety and grip safety.

Analysis

Auto-Ordnance announced the 1911BKO in December 2014 as a U.S.-made GI-spec 1911 after the stainless Thompson Custom, and the first pistols shipped the following year. The frame follows GI geometry, with a matte black oxide finish, a bar-stock carbon steel slide, brown checkered plastic grips, and a firing-pin block. Checkered wood grips with a U.S. logo were added on the .45 Auto Government gun in 2017. A 9 mm Government version followed in mid-2018, and the 4.25-inch Commander arrived the same year. The line is the current catalog GI 1911 and the commercial successor to the earlier Parkerized 1911PKZ. Used examples are common inexpensive GI-pattern pistols and do not carry a collector premium.
