About the Gun

The 1911A1 WWII Parkerized is a Government-size 1911-style single-action pistol with a parkerized steel frame and slide, GI-style sights, a lanyard loop, and either brown checkered plastic grips or checkered wood grips. Later guns add a firing-pin block to the usual thumb safety and grip safety.

Production

Production ran from 1992 through 2001, and again from 2007 through 2016.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $580. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $400–$550.

Analysis

Auto-Ordnance introduced the WWII Parkerized as its no-frills commercial GI 1911 in the early 1990s under the West Hurley operation, item 1911PKZ. It carried military-style rollmarks, a parkerized finish, and a lanyard loop. Kahr bought the brand in 1999 and kept the Parkerized gun in the recast Worcester lineup beside the blued Standard and Deluxe. Checkered walnut grips were dropped in 2001 and returned in 2007. Production ended in 2016 when Kahr replaced the PKZSE with the matte-black GI-spec 1911BKO. Used Parkerized pistols are common inexpensive GI-pattern shooters; wood-grip guns bring little extra over plastic.
