Analysis

This .40 S&W semi-automatic pistol, a well-regarded design from a historic manufacturer, offers several notable attributes for shooters seeking a reliable duty or personal defense firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, benefiting from a well-balanced frame and a crisp trigger pull that averages around 5-6 pounds in single action, aiding in precise shot placement. Ergonomically, the grip design accommodates a wide range of hand sizes, promoting a natural point of aim. Reliability is a key strength, with a proven track record of functioning under varied conditions. However, felt recoil in this caliber can be sharp, potentially challenging for less experienced shooters. Maintenance requires attention, as disassembly and reassembly can be intricate without proper familiarity. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose difficulties due to limited availability in some regions, which could frustrate owners needing repairs or customization. Overall, it remains a solid choice with considerations for user experience.

Awesome .40 S&W
By Byrdnest on 31 Jan 2019
When I bought my Browning Hi-Power i was actually looking for a 1911. I looked at both the .9 mm and the .40 S&W and I am glad i chose the .40 S&W. This pistol just feels right in the hand. The performance is outstanding.
