The Pitbull employs a unique rimless cartridge extractor assembly system. A dual coil spring assembly located in the extractor allows insertion and retention of a rimless semi-auto cartridge in each chamber of the revolver’s cylinder. After firing, the shooter can easily eject the spent cartridges for immediate reloading.

Analysis

This .380 Auto revolver offers a unique blend of compact design and practical functionality for concealed carry or backup use. Its accuracy is commendable for a small-frame firearm, delivering consistent performance at close to moderate ranges. The ergonomics are well-suited for most hand sizes, with a grip that provides a secure hold during operation. Reliability is a strong point, as it handles a variety of ammunition without frequent malfunctions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the revolver’s design, requiring more effort than some semi-automatics. Availability of replacement parts may also pose challenges for long-term ownership. The trigger pull is on the heavier side, which could affect precision for less experienced shooters, while the felt recoil is moderate but noticeable in such a lightweight platform. Overall, it’s a solid option for those prioritizing simplicity and dependability in a compact package.

Great Concept and Darn Near Perfect Execution

I've had the Pitbull .380 for about a year. I bought it used and the POI was well below the POA. I called Charter Arms and they honored the lifetime warranty and repaired it. It's now a very fun revolver to shoot. Loading rounds just takes a little downward pressure on the cylinder and the extractor works great. Recoil is very light. If you have other .380s and have ammo on hand then it makes sense. This started as a range toy but, after firing about 400 rounds, it's now my bedside gun.
