About the Gun

Charter revolvers are 100% US made. They utilize a one-piece frame design and a completely blocked hammer system which cannot fire unless the trigger is held in full rear position. Cylinder lock up is in three places instead of two: cylinder stop and ejector rod collar for additional safety, strength and cylinder-to-barrel lock up.

Production

Production of this firearm began in 1968, with manufacturing continuing through the 1990s. It was primarily produced during the 1970s and 1980s, reflecting the design trends and preferences of that era for compact revolvers.

Analysis

This compact revolver in .32 S&W Long caliber offers a practical option for concealed carry or backup use. Its lightweight design and small frame enhance ease of carry, while the ergonomics provide a comfortable grip for most users, aiding in control during firing. Accuracy is commendable for close-range engagements, aligning well with its intended purpose. Reliability is a strong point, as it consistently performs under typical conditions with proper care. The trigger pull is smooth, though it may feel a bit heavy in double-action mode for some shooters. Felt recoil is minimal, making it manageable even for those with less experience. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding due to the intricacies of the design, and sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges. Additionally, the smaller caliber might not suit users seeking more stopping power for defensive scenarios.
