About the Gun

The Colt Delta Elite is a modified Colt M1911A1 chambered for the 10mm Auto. It is similar to the M1911 in design and operation. Colt was one of the original pioneers in adapting a combat pistol to the 10mm cartridge, and the first to successfully manufacture a 10mm caliber pistol in the United States. The newest edition of the Colt Delta Elite is true to the original design, with a forged stainless steel frame, slide, slide stop, and barrel.

Analysis

This 10mm semi-automatic pistol offers a robust platform for shooters seeking power and precision. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering tight groupings at moderate ranges when paired with quality ammunition. The ergonomics are well-suited for most hand sizes, with a grip design that promotes a secure hold during rapid fire. Reliability is a strong point, as it consistently cycles a variety of loads without frequent malfunctions under proper care. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to ensure optimal performance. Parts availability may pose a challenge for some users, as replacements are not always readily accessible. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, which aids in control, though the felt recoil is notably sharp due to the potent cartridge, potentially affecting follow-up shots for less experienced shooters. Overall, it’s a capable choice with considerations for upkeep and recoil management.
