About the Gun

This Colt Defender Series model is a short, light semi-automatic intended for concealed carry and police backup roles. The New Agent handles like a classic M1911, complete with a single-action trigger and a short single-column magazine. It employs the Colt Series 80 firing system. The New Agent has no sights in the conventional sense of rear notch and front post. Instead, a narrow full-length groove has been milled into the top of the slide, called a Trench Style sight. The bushingless bull barrel locks directly into the slide.

Production

Analysis

This 9mm compact pistol offers a solid option for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system. Ergonomically, the grip fits comfortably in most hands, promoting a secure hold during operation. Reliability is a strong point, with the firearm cycling smoothly through various ammunition types under standard conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring meticulous cleaning to prevent potential malfunctions due to its tight tolerances. Availability of replacement parts may also pose a challenge for some owners, potentially leading to delays in repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, which aids in precise shot placement. Felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable for most shooters, though those sensitive to kick might require additional practice to maintain control.
