Built on a new and heavier ‘AA’ frame, the Anaconda was brought out to compete with .44 Magnum contemporaries such as the Smith & Wesson Model 29, the Sturm, Ruger & Co. Redhawk and Blackhawk, and the Dan Wesson Firearms Model 44. Some Anaconda variants were also offered in .45 Colt caliber.

Production

Production of this specific model with the described features began in 1990 and continued until 2003. It was part of a limited run during that period, with manufacturing primarily occurring in the early 1990s before being discontinued.

Analysis

This .44 Magnum revolver represents a pinnacle of craftsmanship in large-frame handguns, offering exceptional accuracy due to its precision-engineered barrel and well-balanced design. The ergonomics are thoughtfully executed, with a grip that accommodates a variety of hand sizes, ensuring comfort during extended shooting sessions. Reliability is a key asset, as the robust construction withstands the rigors of powerful magnum loads with minimal wear. However, maintenance can be demanding, requiring meticulous care to preserve the intricate mechanisms. Parts availability may pose challenges, as sourcing replacements often involves delays or specialized suppliers. The trigger pull is smooth in double-action mode, though it requires a firm hand, while single-action offers a crisp break. Felt recoil is substantial, as expected with this caliber, potentially limiting its appeal for shooters unaccustomed to heavy magnum handguns. It remains a solid choice for those seeking power and precision.
