Analysis

This .40 S&W semi-automatic pistol offers a solid combination of features for both novice and experienced shooters. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at typical defensive ranges, thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system. The ergonomics are a notable strength, with a grip that accommodates various hand sizes and provides a secure hold during extended use. Reliability is another asset, as it functions smoothly with a wide range of ammunition under diverse conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome, requiring more attention to detail than some competing designs. Parts availability may also pose a challenge in certain regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5-6 pounds, which aids in precision shooting. Felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable for most users with proper technique, though it may feel sharp to those unaccustomed to this power level.

Heavy but packs a punch
By Armyvet on 27 Dec 2020
Owned my FN- 40 for eight years. It is a big serious firearm when out in the boonies. With 15 rounds of hollow point .40 cal, it can get heavy for everyday carry. I have high vis sights on it , but still need to practice a lot . High quality ammo helps accuracy... I wouldn't want to be shot by it !!
