About the Gun

The fourth-generation iteration of this full-size 9 mm pistol features a polymer frame with interchangeable backstraps that allow users to adjust the grip circumference and angle to better fit different hand sizes. It includes a reversible and enlarged magazine release button along with a dual-recoil-spring assembly intended to manage felt recoil and improve cycling consistency across various ammunition types. The slide houses standard fixed sights, and the overall design maintains the established short-recoil, locked-breech operating system with a striker-fired trigger mechanism. Frame texturing provides a more aggressive surface for purchase, while the magazine capacity remains at 17 rounds in standard configuration.

Analysis

This model represented Glock’s primary response to user feedback requesting improved ergonomics without fundamentally altering the platform’s core dimensions or reliability characteristics. The addition of the backstrap system and dual-spring setup addressed common complaints about grip fit and recoil impulse noted in earlier generations, though some early production units required minor factory updates to ejector and spring components to resolve occasional stovepipe or failure-to-eject issues with certain hollow-point loads. In practice, the pistol demonstrated consistent performance in law enforcement and defensive applications, contributing to its widespread adoption before the manufacturer transitioned focus toward subsequent generations. Secondary market availability remains high due to large numbers of trade-ins and department upgrades, resulting in steady pricing for serviceable examples.

First Glock

Never been a “plastic fantastic” fan nor have I ever been a huge Glock fan. I was raised firing steel pistols & that’s what I always liked. However, I can’t deny the Glock 17 is very well made firearm that shoots well & is reliable which comes as no surprise. This will make a reliable home defense/night stand firearm & TBH, I don’t think it would be to bad to conceal carry due to the low weight & relatively thin frame, But I would probably only recommend if you don’t have a smaller, reliable option. Overall, this is a definite keeper Gun.
