About the Gun

The 17L Gen5 MOS is a long-slide pistol that extends the G17 platform with a longer barrel and slide. It incorporates Gen5 features including no finger grooves, an ambidextrous slide stop, and a flared magwell. The pistol uses a standard trigger shoe while retaining the Safe Action system with its three internal safeties. The slide incorporates the Modular Optic System with removable adapter plates. This model maintains the established long-slide dimensions, magazine capacity, and mechanical layout of prior 17L variants while incorporating the MOS optic mounting system.

Analysis

This long-slide pistol provides an extended sight radius and longer barrel for improved accuracy and velocity compared to standard full-size models. The MOS slide preparation uses the traditional adapter-plate system for mounting optics. This configuration served as the optics-ready long-slide 9 mm offering in the Gen5 lineup prior to the introduction of the V-series and Gen6 platforms. It is distinct from earlier non-MOS 17L models and from current Gen6 or V-series pistols, which incorporate different ergonomic updates and optic systems. The slide marking includes the Gen5 designation.
