About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This 9mm pistol with a longer barrel and slide offers notable precision due to its extended sight radius, making it a strong choice for target shooting and competition. Its ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip for a wide range of hand sizes, enhancing control during extended sessions. Reliability is a key asset, as it consistently performs under various conditions with minimal malfunctions. The trigger pull, averaging around 5.5 pounds, provides a predictable break, though some may find it slightly heavy for precision work. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most shooters, and aids in maintaining accuracy during rapid fire. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular cleaning to preserve function due to the longer slide. Additionally, sourcing specific replacement parts may pose challenges for some users, and the larger frame might not suit concealed carry preferences.
