About the Gun

Fifth-generation compact pistol features a polymer frame without finger grooves, interchangeable backstraps for grip customization, and a modestly flared magazine well. It includes an ambidextrous slide stop lever along with an nDLC finish on the slide. The design utilizes the Glock Marksman Barrel with hybrid polygonal rifling and a revised crown profile along with front slide serrations. The overall configuration maintains the established short-recoil, locked-breech operating system with a striker-fired trigger mechanism and standard fixed sights.

Analysis

This Gen5 configuration incorporated updates to grip ergonomics and slide manipulation while preserving the platform’s established dimensions and reliability characteristics. The shift to conventional rifling in the Marksman Barrel and the updated slide coating represented departures from prior designs. Internal component adjustments supported consistent function across ammunition types. In practice, the pistol saw continued but declining use in law enforcement and defensive roles as many agencies transitioned away from .40 S&W, until Glock phased out most Gen5 models in late 2025. Secondary market availability remains moderate due to the cartridge’s reduced popularity, resulting in steady but softening pricing for serviceable examples.
