About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This .40 S&W pistol is a notable option for shooters seeking a blend of precision and durability in a full-size firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, especially at extended ranges, making it a solid choice for target shooting or competition. The ergonomic design facilitates a comfortable grip for most hand sizes, enhancing control during prolonged use. Reliability is a key asset, with consistent performance even under demanding conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to the complexity of certain components, requiring more time and attention than simpler designs. Parts availability may also pose a challenge in some regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds, which suits a variety of users, though some may find it slightly heavy for rapid follow-up shots. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for experienced shooters but possibly noticeable for those less accustomed to the .40 caliber.
