About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This compact 9mm pistol is a solid choice for concealed carry and personal defense, offering a balance of size and performance. Its accuracy is commendable for a subcompact design, delivering consistent results at typical engagement distances. The ergonomics are well-suited for a variety of hand sizes, with a grip that facilitates a secure hold despite the shorter frame. Reliability is a key asset, as it functions dependably across a wide range of ammunition and conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat involved, requiring attention to detail for proper care. Parts availability may pose challenges in certain regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull, averaging around 5.5 pounds, offers a predictable break, though some users might find it slightly heavy. Felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable for most shooters with proper technique, though smaller-framed individuals may notice it more during extended sessions.
