About the Gun

Fifth generation subcompact pistol chambered in 10 mm Auto. It incorporates Gen5 features including no finger grooves, an ambidextrous slide stop, and a flared magwell. The pistol uses a standard trigger shoe while retaining the 'Safe Action' system with its three internal safeties. The slide is prepared as a standard non-optics-ready configuration with fixed polymer sights. The 29 Gen5 maintains the established subcompact dimensions, magazine capacity, and mechanical layout of prior G29 variants while incorporating the Gen5 platform updates.

Analysis

This Gen5 model incorporated updates to grip ergonomics and slide manipulation while preserving the platform’s established dimensions and reliability characteristics. The shift to a hybrid polygonal rifling in the Marksman Barrel and the updated slide coating represented departures from prior designs. Internal component adjustments supported consistent function across ammunition types. In practice, the pistol saw continued use in concealed carry, law enforcement backup, and defensive roles until Glock phased out most Gen5 models in late 2025. Secondary market availability remains high due to the volume of units produced, resulting in steady pricing for serviceable examples.
