About the Gun

Fourth-generation full-size pistol in .357 SIG features a polymer frame with interchangeable backstraps that allow adjustment of grip circumference and angle for different hand sizes. It includes an enlarged reversible magazine release, a dual-recoil-spring assembly, and rough-textured frame surfaces. The slide houses standard fixed sights, and the design maintains the short-recoil, locked-breech operating system with a striker-fired trigger mechanism.

Analysis

This variant applied the Gen4 ergonomic and recoil-management updates to the .357 SIG platform, which was developed to deliver high muzzle velocity and flat trajectory in a service-size handgun. The dual-spring setup was intended to moderate the cartridge's sharp recoil impulse while supporting reliable function with a range of .357 SIG loads. The model saw limited but consistent adoption in law enforcement roles where the caliber's performance characteristics were prioritized, though overall production and market presence remained smaller than those of the 9 mm and .40 S&W counterparts. Quantities on the secondary market reflect this narrower appeal and the broader discontinuation of .357 SIG pistols.
