About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This pistol, chambered in a potent .357 cartridge, offers a compelling option for shooters seeking a balance of power and concealability. Its accuracy is noteworthy, delivering consistent performance at moderate ranges, while the ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip for most hand sizes, aiding in control during rapid fire. Reliability is a key asset, with a proven track record of functioning well under varied conditions. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds, which suits both defensive and range use, though some may find it slightly heavy for precision shooting. Felt recoil is sharp due to the high-velocity round, potentially challenging for less experienced users. On the downside, maintenance can be intricate, requiring attention to detail, and parts availability may be limited compared to more common calibers. This makes it less ideal for those prioritizing ease of upkeep or widespread support.
