About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This .45 GAP caliber pistol offers a compelling balance of power and control for shooters seeking a full-sized duty or personal defense firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances, while the ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip for a wide range of hand sizes, aiding in prolonged use. Reliability is a strong suit, with the firearm functioning well under varied conditions, provided proper care is maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring attention to detail to avoid wear on critical components. Availability of replacement parts may pose a challenge, potentially limiting long-term support for some users. The trigger pull is smooth, averaging around 5.5 pounds, which suits both novice and experienced shooters. Felt recoil is manageable, though it may be noticeable for those unaccustomed to larger calibers, necessitating practice for optimal control.
