About the Gun

One of the first successful polymer framed designs, Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. Although a striker-fired pistol, the Glock employs a single-action (SA) trigger, meaning that the trigger does not cock the gun, but only releases the striker when pulled. Cocking of the striker is performed by the retracting slide. Glock pistols have no manual safeties. The trigger is the only operating element. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. For more information on the Glock design, please refer to the Glock pistol animation in the Basics section.

Analysis

This compact .45 GAP pistol offers a solid blend of performance and concealability, making it a viable option for personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable for a subcompact design, delivering consistent groupings at typical self-defense ranges. The ergonomics are well-suited for most hand sizes, with a grip that facilitates a secure hold during rapid fire. Reliability is a strong point, as it functions smoothly with proper ammunition, even under adverse conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding due to the need for regular cleaning to prevent wear on its components. Availability of parts and accessories may also pose challenges for some users, limiting customization options. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds, which aids in control, though the felt recoil is noticeably sharp due to the potent caliber and lightweight frame, potentially affecting follow-up shots for less experienced shooters.
