About the Gun

The Glock 49 Gen6 is a crossover pistol that pairs a compact G19-size frame with a full G17-length slide and barrel. It incorporates Gen6 frame updates including RTF6 grip texture with expanded coverage on the palm swells and thumb rest areas, an extended beavertail, and no finger grooves. The pistol uses a flat-faced trigger shoe while retaining the Safe Action system with its three internal safeties. The slide preparation consists of the integrated Optic Ready System (ORS) as the standard configuration. This model maintains the established crossover dimensions, 15-round magazine capacity, and mechanical layout of prior G49 variants while incorporating the ergonomic and optic-mounting revisions introduced with the Gen6 platform.

Analysis

The Glock 49 Gen6 combines the concealability of a compact frame with the sight radius and velocity of a full-size slide and barrel. The inclusion of the ORS as the standard slide preparation on the G49 Gen6 standardizes optics capability across standard-frame Gen6 models by moving to a direct-mount interface with polymer shims. The flat-faced trigger and expanded RTF6 texture provide adjustments to grip and trigger interface, while the core Safe Action trigger mechanism and parts compatibility with prior generations remain intact. This configuration incorporates modular characteristics previously associated with models such as the G47 into the updated G49 platform. No non-optics-ready commercial version of the Gen6 G49 is listed in standard production.
