Kahr pistols are striker-fired locked-breech designs, relying on a modification of the Browning dropping-barrel system with a lug above the chamber locking the barrel into the roof of the slide.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a compact, powerful handgun. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, making it suitable for both defensive and range use. The ergonomics are well-thought-out, with a grip design that accommodates various hand sizes, enhancing control during firing. Reliability is a strong point, as it cycles smoothly with a variety of ammunition types under typical conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to a less intuitive disassembly process, which may frustrate less experienced users. Availability of replacement parts could also pose challenges, as they are not as widely stocked as those for more common models. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, providing a predictable break. Felt recoil, while manageable for seasoned shooters, may feel sharp to those unaccustomed to larger calibers, requiring practice for consistent performance.
