About the Gun

Part of Kahr's Premium Series, the PM Series is a high quality thin profile subcompact, pocket carry handgun model with a polymer frame. Features include a Lothar Walther polygonal rifled match grade barrel, DAO trigger, stainless or blackened stainless slide and an option for night sights. Kahr pistols are striker-fired locked-breech designs, relying on a modification of the Browning dropping-barrel system with a lug above the chamber locking the barrel into the roof of the slide.

Analysis

This compact .45 Auto pistol offers a solid choice for concealed carry or personal defense, with notable strengths in accuracy and ergonomics. Its design prioritizes a comfortable grip, fitting well in smaller hands while maintaining control during firing. Reliability is a key asset, as it consistently performs under varied conditions with proper care. The trigger pull is smooth, averaging around 5 pounds, which aids in precise shot placement. However, felt recoil is significant due to the lightweight frame, potentially challenging for less experienced shooters. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring meticulous attention to prevent wear. Availability of replacement parts may also pose an issue, as they are not as widely stocked as those for more common models. Overall, this firearm suits users seeking a balance of power and portability, provided they are prepared for its upkeep and recoil management.
