About the Gun

The Classic designation essentially represents a refined, more budget-oriented sub-line of the standard model CDS9. These variants share the identical aluminum frame, stainless steel slide, match-grade barrel, dual recoil spring system, ambidextrous controls, reversible mag release, and magazine compatibility as the Standard models.

Production

The Classic models were introduced in mid-2025 as more affordable refinements with simplified grips and sights.

Analysis

The differences between the CDS9 Standard and Classic models are primarily in aesthetics, materials, and features like grips (VZ Frag G10 on standard vs. stippled nylon on Classic), sights (fiber optic on standard vs. tritium on non-OR Classic), finishes, and pricing, which position the Classic as an accessible entry point without altering the foundational design or performance. As with the Standard model, the CDS9 Classic trigger is top-tier—crisper and lighter than SIG P365 (5.5–6.5 lbs), Glock 43X (5.5+ lbs), or Hellcat (6+ lbs). It rivals premium 1911s (e.g., Dan Wesson) in feel, making it ideal for precision EDC despite the small platform. No aftermarket needed for most users.
