About the Gun

The micro-compact Kimber Solo is a diversion from the manufacturer's 1911 style pistols. Like its bigger 1911 siblings the Solo sports a machined aluminum frame, a similar grip angle, side panels and magazine release, and an ambidextrous thumb safety. But, that's where the similarities end. The Solo employs a striker style firing system with a Glock-style single-action (SA) trigger. The slide and barrel cut from stainless steel. To aid in concealed carry the gun is given melt-down style rounded and blended edges.

Production

Analysis

This compact 9mm pistol offers a compelling option for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance at typical defensive ranges, thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system. Ergonomically, the grip fits comfortably in most hands, promoting a secure hold during operation. Reliability is a strong point, with the firearm cycling smoothly through various ammunition types under standard conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, as disassembly and cleaning require attention to detail and may challenge less experienced users. Availability of replacement parts could also pose an issue, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4-5 pounds, which aids in precise shooting, while the felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most shooters with proper technique. Overall, it’s a capable choice, though potential buyers should weigh the upkeep considerations against their needs.

Great shooting pistol. If you have large hands like myself it can be a little uncomfortable.
