About the Gun

D-Series Single-Stack Model. In 1999, Para-Ordnance introduced their LDA (Light Double Action) trigger system. The LDA was touted first truly successful double-action 1911 pistol, every shot actually being double-action only with an extremely light trigger pull. This eliminated the need for cocked and locked carry, common with 1911 style pistols.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol offers a solid blend of performance and design for shooters seeking a full-sized duty or competition firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, thanks to a well-engineered barrel and sight system. The ergonomics are thoughtfully designed, with a grip that accommodates a wide range of hand sizes, promoting a secure hold during extended sessions. Reliability is a key asset, as it cycles smoothly even under demanding conditions with various ammunition types. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome, requiring more frequent attention to ensure peak function. Parts availability may pose challenges for some users, potentially leading to delays in repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds in single-action mode, though the felt recoil is noticeable, which might affect newer shooters or those sensitive to heavier kick in this caliber.
