Analysis

This .22 LR pistol offers a compact design well-suited for casual plinking or introductory shooting. Its accuracy proves reliable at short to medium ranges, making it a practical choice for target practice. The ergonomics cater to smaller hands, with a grip that feels secure for many users, though larger-handed shooters may find it less comfortable. Reliability is generally consistent with quality ammunition, but occasional feeding issues can arise with cheaper rounds. The trigger pull is somewhat heavy, which might affect precision for newer shooters, while the felt recoil remains minimal, ideal for beginners. On the downside, maintenance can be cumbersome due to its design, requiring patience for thorough cleaning. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts can be challenging, potentially frustrating owners needing repairs. Overall, it serves as a budget-friendly option for recreational use, though it may not meet the needs of more demanding shooters.

Called the Company / Good & Bad
By X-Raycer on 23 Dec 2024
The last time I shot the HP-22A the slide locked open and wouldn't budge. The gun has a Lifetime Warranty, so I called them and they instructed me how to free the slide. It turns out that the recoil spring is very finicky how it is installed. Also the recoil spring is only good for 100 rounds or so and needs to be replaced before it binds and jams the slide.

One Year update - It's nice looking JUNK
By X-Raycer on 28 Aug 2022
After a year and a little over 200 rounds the gun will no longer feed a round from any of the five magazines I have.

HP-22A Range Kit
By X-Raycer on 08 Aug 2021
This Nickle plated HP-22A fits the bill on a budget. I bought the Deluxe Range Kit for $209. It came with 3" and 5" barrels. It has two 10 round magazine, one with a Pinky Rest. So far I've not had a problem with it. It has a couple of quirks like two safeties, and the need to stick with Standard Velocity ammo. Just read and follow the Manual.

One of the most under rated firearms made. Have two of them and the just run and run. Accuracy is fantastic, nice trigger and sights. I totally agree with Gun-test magazine that gave it a A plus rating. Runs better than gun costing 3-4 times as much. Eats any standard Velocity ammo.

Nice plinking pistol
By Diecapsule78 on 07 Apr 2020
I have this pistol in .22 & my dad & brother have the .25 model. Hard to argue with the price. They make for a nice little target practice/plinking pistol.
