About the Gun

The 1911 RCS is a compact single-action 1911-style pistol that pairs an Officer-sized grip frame with a Commander-length slide and barrel. It uses an alloy frame and stainless-steel slide, available in Nitron or two-tone finishes. Slim-profile custom rosewood grips, low-profile night sights, and a dehorned “Anti-Snag” treatment are standard. The front strap and mainspring housing are checkered. Controls follow the classic 1911 layout with a grip safety and manual thumb safety.

Production ran from approximately 2005 through 2011.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $1,100–$1,300. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $700–$1,000.

Analysis

SIG developed the RCS as a dedicated concealed-carry model within the early Revolution series. By combining a shorter grip frame with a longer Commander-length slide, it offered improved shootability over pure Officer-size 1911s while remaining more compact than the standard Carry models. The Custom Shop Anti-Snag treatment and slim wood grips further refined it for everyday carry. It represented one of the more specialized compact offerings of the Revolution era before the later C3 and Ultra Compact models.
