They were offered in black Nitron and two-tone finishes across DA/SA (including Gen 2 with Short Reset Trigger and decocking lever), SAO (with ambidextrous thumb safety), and DAK (double-action-only) configurations, with some early DAK examples featuring wood grips.

Analysis

The P220 Carry SAS variants combined the full-size grip and 8-round .45 ACP capacity with a shorter overall length for concealed carry while the extensive anti-snag treatment and bobbed hammer reduced potential interference with clothing or holsters. The DA/SA Gen 2 configuration provided the traditional double-action first shot with decocker and improved reset, the SAO version offered a consistent single-action pull with manual safety, and the DAK version delivered a uniform long trigger stroke without external controls. The two-tone DAK with wood grips represented an early Custom Shop aesthetic approach, while the black Nitron finishes emphasized durability. These models served as SIG Sauer’s refined metal-frame carry options during the period when many users and agencies evaluated alternatives ahead of the shift toward polymer striker-fired designs. Production of standard Carry SAS configurations was limited and has been discontinued.
