Analysis

The P220 Match provided a factory long-slide option that increased muzzle velocity and sight radius compared with the standard 4.4-inch P220 while retaining the locked-breech short-recoil operating system and DA/SA trigger with decocker. These models were produced during the mid-to-late 2000s as SIG Sauer offered precision-oriented configurations on the platform alongside standard models. The two-tone finish with stainless slide was the standard offering and gave the pistol a distinctive appearance focused on corrosion resistance and traditional aesthetics. The P220 Match represents an earlier precision enhancement on the platform prior to the broader Elite upgrades that included beavertail frames and short-reset triggers.
