About the Gun

The P220 SAS is the full-size model with the SIG Anti-Snag treatment that rounds all sharp edges and de-horns the slide and controls for snag-free draw and carry. It was produced in a two-tone configuration that paired a stainless or nickel-plated slide with the black hard-coat anodized aluminum alloy frame and featured rosewood grips, and used fixed combat sights with a contrast rear.

Analysis

The P220 SAS applied the Anti-Snag dehorning process to the standard full-size platform to improve comfort and concealability without changing the core mechanical layout or dimensions. The two-tone finish with rosewood grips provided a traditional appearance while the rounded contours reduced the likelihood of the pistol catching on clothing during draw. These models appeared during the period when SIG Sauer offered specialized concealed-carry refinements on the P220 before greater emphasis shifted to the Elite and Legion series. On the secondary market the two-tone SAS with rosewood grips remains a distinct and collectible expression of the platform’s carry-oriented evolution.
