About the Gun

The P320 Compact is a medium-frame, striker-fired polymer pistol that pairs a compact-length slide and barrel with a compact grip module. This configuration reduces overall height and grip circumference compared with the full-size and Carry models while retaining the modular fire-control unit of the P320 platform. It features a Nitron-finished stainless steel slide in most examples, an accessory rail, and was offered with contrast or SIGLITE night sights (later versions added X-RAY3 options and optic-ready slides). The model was produced in 9mm, .40 S&W, .357 SIG, and .45 ACP.

Production began in 2015 and is currently ongoing.

MSRP is around $650. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $400–$550.

Analysis

SIG introduced the Compact size early in the P320’s commercial run to provide a more concealable alternative to the full-size and Carry configurations while preserving the platform’s modularity. The shorter grip module and matching slide length addressed demand for a duty-capable pistol better suited to everyday carry and smaller-handed shooters. Over time the lineup narrowed from four calibers to a primary focus on 9mm, with .40 S&W and .357 SIG discontinued around 2020 and .45 ACP continuing only in limited form. Concurrently the classic non-optic 9mm Nitron model transitioned toward an optic-ready slide, reflecting broader market movement toward red-dot compatibility. A manual-safety version briefly appeared mainly in 9mm. The Compact remains one of the core size options in the P320 family, bridging the gap between full-size control and more compact dimensions.
