This is SIG's own version of Browning's classic 1911 platform manufactured in Exeter, New Hampshire. Originally only produced with an integral accessory rail (as the term GSR implied), both standard and rail models are now offered.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol offers a robust platform for shooters seeking a classic design with modern refinements. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering tight groupings at moderate ranges due to a well-fitted barrel and slide. The ergonomics are thoughtfully executed, with a grip that accommodates a wide range of hand sizes, enhancing control during extended sessions. Reliability is a strong suit, functioning consistently with various ammunition types under typical conditions. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4.5 pounds, providing a predictable break that aids precision. Felt recoil, while noticeable given the caliber, is manageable thanks to the firearm’s weight and design. On the downside, maintenance can be demanding, requiring meticulous attention to keep it in peak condition. Parts availability may pose challenges for some users, particularly for customizations. Additionally, shooters with smaller hands might find the grip slightly less comfortable over time.
